Reorder PDF Pages: Drag-Drop Rearrange, No Upload
A free PDF page reorder tool that runs entirely in your browser. Drop a PDF, drag any thumbnail to a new position, and click Apply new order. The reverse-all preset flips an entire document in one click (handy for back-to-front scans). Original page numbers stay visible as small badges so you never lose track of where each page came from. There is no upload to a server, no 50-page limit like Sejda's Organize tool, no 2-tasks-per-day cap like Smallpdf. Privacy-first for documents with meaningful page order: legal exhibits, HR files, scanned chapters.

Six reasons people choose Gizmoop's reorder tool
What makes a browser-based reorder tool the right choice over competitors that cap or upload.
100% browser-based
pdf-lib and pdfjs-dist render and rebuild the PDF locally. The file never reaches our servers. Verify via Developer Tools → Network.
Drag-and-drop thumbnails
Drag any page to a new position. The new page number updates instantly. Original page number shows in a badge so you never lose track.
Reverse all in one click
Useful for back-to-front scans where the page order is inverted. No competitor offers this as a single-click preset.
No page count limit
Sejda's Organize tool caps free use at 50 pages, one of the strictest limits in the industry. Gizmoop reorders documents of any length your device can hold.
Restore original anytime
One click resets to the source page order. Experimenting with reorderings is risk-free because the original on your disk is never touched.
Privacy for sensitive ordering
Legal exhibits, HR documents, and financial reports often have meaningful page orders. Reordering them locally means the document never leaves your device.
When you need to reorder PDF pages
Real workflows where page order matters and the current order is wrong.
Fixing back-to-front scans
When a document feeder scans pages in reverse order (common with multi-sheet originals), one click on Reverse all puts them right.
Combining scanned book chapters
Scans of a multi-part document often arrive in arbitrary order. Drag chapters into the correct sequence before sharing.
Reordering legal exhibits
Exhibits in legal filings have meaningful sequence (Exhibit A first, then B, etc.). After collecting them as a single PDF, drag into the required order.
Building a portfolio or pitch deck
Drop in a multi-page PDF of slides or work samples, then drag them into the order you want to present.
Fixing right-to-left bound book scans
Some Asian-language books are bound right-to-left. Scans come out in reverse Western reading order. Reverse all fixes this in one step.
Reorganizing report sections
After receiving review feedback that wants the executive summary moved to the front and the methodology to the back, drag those sections into their new positions.
About reordering PDF pages
How reordering actually works, why Sejda's 50-page Organize cap is a problem, and how Gizmoop solves it.
What does reordering PDF pages actually do?
Reordering takes your existing PDF and produces a new PDF that contains the same pages but in a different order. The original file on your disk is unchanged. The new PDF is a normal, standalone PDF that opens in any reader. Internally, pdf-lib copies each page's content (text, images, fonts, annotations) into a fresh document in your chosen sequence. The output is renumbered consecutively starting at page 1, but our tool keeps the original page number visible as a small badge in the thumbnail so you always know where each page came from.
Reordering is one of the most common PDF cleanup operations after scanning. Office scanners and phone-scan apps frequently produce documents in the wrong order: a multi-sheet original goes through the feeder in reverse, a phone scan captures pages out of sequence, or a multi-document scan combines several originals in arbitrary order. Reordering is the fix.
Drag-and-drop vs. arrow buttons
Each thumbnail is draggable. Pick it up, move it over the slot you want it in, and drop. The other pages shift automatically to make room. On a touch screen (phones, tablets), drag is touch-and-hold-then-drag. For finer control or on small screens, every thumbnail also has left/right arrow buttons that move the page one position at a time. Use whichever is faster for your situation.
Reverse all and restore original
Two one-click presets cover the common cases. Reverse all flips the entire document order: page 1 becomes the last page, the last page becomes page 1, and so on. This is invaluable for back-to-front scans and right-to-left bound books. Restore original resets everything to the source order; useful after experimenting with a reorder you decide you do not want. Neither operation modifies the original file on your disk, so you can experiment freely.
Why the 50-page Sejda Organize cap is a problem
Sejda's Organize PDF tool caps free use at 50 pages, one of the strictest limits in the entire PDF tool space. Most real documents are well over 50 pages: scanned textbooks, multi-chapter reports, full case files, lengthy contracts. Hitting the cap forces an upgrade to Sejda Pro just to reorder a normal-sized document. Gizmoop has no page cap at all. Reordering a 500-page scanned textbook works the same as reordering a 5-page document. The only constraint is your device's RAM during the initial thumbnail render.
Why local processing matters for sensitive documents
Documents with meaningful page order are often confidential. Legal exhibit packets where order has evidentiary significance. HR files where the order of documents matters for personnel reviews. Financial reports where section order signals priority. Reordering these on a third-party server is a privacy step backwards. Gizmoop runs everything in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. You can verify zero upload in Developer Tools → Network.
What is preserved during reordering
Text remains text and stays searchable. Images stay embedded. Fonts stay embedded. Form fields are preserved on the pages they appear on, and the data they hold travels with the page. Annotations (highlights, comments) move with the page. External URL hyperlinks continue to work. Internal page-references (e.g. "See page 5") still point to whatever page now occupies that slot, which may or may not be what you want; for documents with critical inter-page cross-references, review the output.
What can break during reordering
Digital signatures invalidate because any modification to a signed PDF breaks the signature. This is a property of PDF signing, not specific to our tool. If signatures must remain valid, do not reorder signed PDFs. Bookmarks/table-of-contents entries that target specific pages may need updating if their target page is now in a different position; pdf-lib preserves the bookmark but the position offset changes. Complex interactive JavaScript inside the PDF may fail if it referenced content by absolute page number.
Comparison with iLovePDF, Smallpdf, Sejda, PDF24
iLovePDF brands their reorder feature as "Organize PDF" with drag-drop thumbnails plus add-page and delete-page in one canvas. Free, but uploads server-side. Smallpdf has /organize-pdf and an experimental "AI-suggested page order" feature; caps free use at 2 tasks/day. Sejda's Organize allows drag-reorder but caps free at 50 pages (the tightest cap of any tool surveyed). PDF24 offers a dedicated /rearrange-pdf-pages URL with no quota but still uploads. Gizmoop matches the feature set, removes every cap, and runs entirely in your browser.
Working with very long PDFs
Loading thumbnails for very long PDFs (200+ pages) takes 30-60 seconds because each page must be rendered to a small image. After thumbnails load, drag and reorder operations are instant in the UI. The final Apply step (rebuilding the PDF) takes 1-5 seconds depending on file size. Mobile devices handle 100-200 pages comfortably; for 500+ pages, a laptop is better because mobile RAM is more limited.
Working with password-protected PDFs
The tool cannot read encrypted PDFs directly. Drop one and you get an error. The fix is to unlock first with our Unlock PDF tool (you must know the password; we do not crack passwords). The password is processed in your browser. After unlocking, reorder normally. If you want the output protected, run it through our Protect PDF tool after reordering.
Combining reorder with other tools
Reordering is often part of a larger cleanup. Common chain: drop scanned PDF → rotate misoriented pages (Rotate PDF) → delete blank verso pages (Delete PDF Pages) → reorder into final sequence (this tool) → compress for sharing (Compress PDF) → add page numbers (Add Page Numbers PDF). Every step runs in your browser on Gizmoop without uploading the file between steps, which means a confidential document can go through the entire workflow without ever touching a third-party server.
Browser compatibility
Works in Chrome 88+, Firefox 89+, Safari 15+, and Edge 88+. HTML5 native drag-and-drop is used, which is supported in every modern browser including mobile. Internet Explorer is unsupported. No installation, extensions, or special permissions are required.
Frequently asked questions
If you don't find your question here, ask us directly.
Drop your PDF, drag any thumbnail to a new position to rearrange the pages, then click Apply new order. Download the result. The drag-drop and rebuild both happen in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Yes. Click "Reverse all" in the toolbar to flip the entire order. Useful for back-to-front scans where pages came out in reverse, or for fixing right-to-left scans of bound books.
iLovePDF and Smallpdf both upload your file to a server. Smallpdf caps free use at 2 tasks/day. Sejda offers Organize but caps it at 50 pages on free tier (one of the strictest limits in the industry). Gizmoop has no caps, no upload, and no signup.
No. Sejda's Organize tool blocks files over 50 pages on free, which makes it unusable for any real document. Gizmoop has no page limit; reorder a 500-page PDF if you need to.
Form fields are preserved on the pages they appear on, and the data they hold travels with the page. Bookmarks pointing to specific pages are preserved by pdf-lib but may need updating if your reader caches old positions. Internal hyperlinks to pages now in a different position may need manual review for critical documents.
Yes. Click "Restore original" to reset the order, or just keep dragging until you have it right. The original file on your device is never modified, so you can also reset and start over by closing and re-dropping.
Not in the current version. We use visual drag-drop which is more reliable for catching mistakes. If you need programmatic reordering for many files, our PDF tools are all built on open-source libraries (pdf-lib) that you can script outside the browser.
Hyperlinks pointing to specific pages are preserved by pdf-lib, but the target page may now be in a different position. For documents with critical inter-page links (legal exhibits with cross-references, technical manuals with figure callouts), test the output before relying on it.
Yes. Any modification to a signed PDF invalidates the signature. This is a property of PDF signing, not specific to our tool. If signatures must remain valid, do not reorder signed PDFs.
The tool cannot read encrypted PDFs directly. Use our Unlock PDF tool first (you must know the password) to remove encryption locally, then reorder. The password is processed in your browser only.
No. Reordering uses pdf-lib and pdfjs-dist running in your browser. Open Developer Tools → Network to confirm zero outbound transfers. Sensitive documents stay on your device.
Our tool uses HTML5 native drag-and-drop, which works on iOS Safari and Android Chrome. On phones, drag is touch-and-hold then drag. For long documents, the arrow buttons under each thumbnail are easier to use on small screens.
Reorder rearranges the existing pages. Delete removes some pages. Extract picks specific pages and discards the rest. You can chain these: reorder first, then delete the pages you do not need, then download. Each step runs in your browser.
